Milestones
- 1972: Larry Hooker, Sr. starts American Overhead Door in his mother's garage. He builds American on outstanding 24/7/365 service and his passion for getting the job done right the first time.
- 1996: The acquisition of Total Overhead Door broadens American's capabilities and customer base.
- 2001: The acquisition of Able Door strengthens American even further.
- 2002: American's legacy of quality service is assured for the future, as the company is acquired by Larry Hooker, Jr.
- 2006: The company’s name is changed to American Door and Dock to better represent our comprehensive range of commercial door & dock solutions.

Community
We're in business to help our customers succeed and grow. But we're also committed to the success, progress, health & safety, and culture of our community. We're active in our community through a productive partnership with Teen Reach Adventure Camp in Schaumburg, IL. Teen Reach provides abused, at-risk, and under-privileged children with a fun filled, life impacting camp experience to help them get their lives on track. We're proud to support this fine organization and its great work in the Chicagoland community.

Green Practices
We want to leave our world in better condition than when we found it for the benefit of the planet and future generations. We're taking proactive steps to increase our energy efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint across our entire operation. Our green practices are continuously evolving for the good of our customers and the environment. Green is the right and smart thing to do.
- Some may say the paperless office is just a dream, but it's one we're gladly pursuing. We have reduced the use of paper products across our entire operation. We're focusing on new and improved electronic communications for everything from back office systems to sales & marketing.
- We're committed to locally manufactured parts and accessories. Our manufacturing partners are actively working to reduce their own carbon footprints and achieve the long term goal of zero landfill.
- We dispose of old parts from customer job sites safely and environmentally properly. We store, handle, and dispose of all hazardous substances in strict compliance with all applicable regulations.
- We work with vendors who demonstrate the same strong commitment to the environment and resource efficient operations. We actively promote and support green practices throughout our entire supply chain.
